You're in the middle of ironing, your favorite blouse gets caught in the iron... and suddenly, trouble! The iron jams, leaving black spots and even a hot smell. Has this ever happened to you? Don't worry, you're not alone. An iron, though essential, tends to get dirty quickly. As a result, it damages your clothes instead of making them pristine.
But the good news: there's a simple, quick, and very economical way to get them back to smoothness... and it only takes 30 seconds!
Why does your iron get dirty so quickly?
Over time, limescale, burnt-on fabric residue, and tiny stains invisible to the naked eye accumulate on the soleplate. If you use tap water, this becomes even more noticeable: minerals seep into the vents and form deposits. The result? The iron jams, leaves stains, and loses its effectiveness.
Instead of buying a new iron or a specialized product, why not try this home trick that is as practical as it is effective?

1 dishwasher tablet,
white vinegar,
cotton balls,
paper towels. Step-by-step trick:
Preheat the iron. Plug in the iron
and set it to maximum temperature. Important: Turn off the steam function to avoid accidents. Let the iron warm up for a moment.
Prepare the tablet.
Remove the packaging from the dishwasher tablet. The detergent contained within effectively removes residue.
Rub directly onto the heated soleplate.
Hold the soleplate gently (be careful not to burn yourself) and gently rub it against the heated soleplate. The heat will melt the soleplate in seconds and help remove embedded dirt. Pay particular attention to any black or rough areas.
Wipe with a paper towel.
Wipe with a paper towel to remove any melted residue. The soleplate should now have regained its shine.
Clean the steam vents.
Dip a cotton ball in a small amount of white vinegar and gently wipe each hole in the soleplate. The vinegar will dissolve any scale blocking the steam flow.
Finishing and drying.
Use a new paper towel to wipe the soleplate and dry the vents. The iron is now clean and smooth, ready for use.

Why does it work?
Dishwasher tablets are designed to remove grease, limescale, and stubborn deposits—the stuff that builds up on the soleplate of your iron. Combined with heat, they provide a quick and effective clean. Vinegar, on the other hand, acts as a natural descaling agent, gentle on metal and safe.
Tried and tested tip: In just 30 seconds, you can avoid a lot of problems (and stained clothes). It's simple, economical, and gives your iron a new lease on life. Repeat as soon as you notice your iron sticking, or once a month for maintenance.
Who would have thought that a simple kitchen item could make ironing easier?
